Week 28 - One Hour Glucose Test

The One Hour Glucose Test (also called the Glucose Challenge) is administered at 28 weeks and can determine if you are a candidate for Gestational Diabetes. You are not asked to make any dietary changes in preparation for this test. You will drink a filthy sugary drink and have your blood taken one hour later. If you fail this test you are not necessarily diabetic, you just go on to take an even more lame version of this test called the Three Hour Glucose Test.

Gestational Diabetes is a temporary ailment. It goes away after the baby comes. If you do not control your blood sugar during the last few weeks of pregnancy you will have a 52 lb baby, and I don't have to tell you why that's a problem.

Week 25 - Hospital Registration

You are asked to register at the hospital you will deliver at in your 6th month. Registration consists of filling out some lame forms online. A couple of days later you get an official looking piece of paper with a barcode on it in the mail.

Methodist Willowbrook Hospital is where this historic event will occur. I haven't taken a tour yet, but friends who have delivered there tell me it's a wonderful birthing center.
